System Check Requirements
Prior to launching the assessment:
A system check will be required in order to ensure your system can effectively run the assessment. It should only take a minute or two for the system check to complete. If it appears to take a considerable amount of time, then it may be necessary to review and/or update your computer settings.
After the system check has completed:
Refer to the links below for any computer settings issues that may need to be modified. A few examples of what might cause the system check to stall or not complete include:
- The security settings on your PC may be too restrictive - follow the instructions below to modify those settings.
- The Internet browser (such as Internet Explorer, Safari, etc) may not be suitable- follow the instructions below to modify your Internet browser.
Troubleshooting System Check Results
Once the system check has completed, you may be presented with onscreen results indicating one or more of the following issues that require additional troubleshooting in order to run the assessment successfully. Please click on the appropriate option for steps to resolve the issue(s).
Important: You must have speakers or headphones as well as a Microsoft-compatible keyboard and mouse in order to complete the assessment.
Minimum System Specifications
In order to access the Simulation, your system must have the following minimum specifications.
PC running Microsoft Windows® XP or newer with current service packs or Apple computer running Mac OSX (current version recommended).
800 MHz processor or higher (1 GHz recommended)
512 MB of RAM or higher (1 GB recommended)
Active broadband/high-speed connection
SVGA (1024 x 768) or higher resolution with 16 bit color
Internet Explorer® version 7 or newer, Firefox® version 3.6 or newer, Google Chrome version 16 or newer, or Safari version 5 or newer
Microsoft-compatible keyboard and mouse (or compatible pointing device)
Speakers or headphones
Adobe Flash® Player version 8 or newer
Browser cookies enabled
Supported Browsers
Simulations can be accessed using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari. If you do not have any of these browsers, please click the browser name below to be directed to the browser download/installation page.
Using Flash with Chrome
If Flash is blocked in Chrome, follow these steps to enable it.
- Type or paste the following into your Chrome browser: chrome://flags/#prefer-html-over-flash
- From the Prefer HTML over Flash screen, select Disabled.
- Restart your Chrome browser.
Screen Size
The Simulations are optimized to run in a screen resolution of 1024 pixels (width) by 768 pixels (height) or better. To adjust your screen size please see instructions below by clicking on the name of your operating system.
Enabling Internet Cookies
In order to access the Simulation, your browser must be able to accept cookies. To enable cookies, please see browser-specific instructions below.
Enabling Java Scripting
In order to access the Simulation, your browser must have Java Scripting enabled. To enable Java Scripting, please see browser-specific instructions below.

Changing Popup Blocker
Certain features of the simulation may try to display information in a new window. If your computer is too restrictive in blocking popups, it may affect your ability to complete the simulation. To manage popup settings, please see browser-specific instructions below.
